What is NASBA?
The National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) is an umbrella group for the 55 state boards that regulate the accountancy profession in the United States of America.

Continuing Professional Education (CPE) helps people increase their professional competence and marketability. NASBA’s National Registry of CPE Sponsors program recognizes sponsors who offer continuing professional education in accord with nationally recognized standards. Contact your state board where you hold your CPA license to determine the CPE requirements for you. Most states require continuing professional education maintain active CPA licenses.
What is Element K’s NASBA Program Level?
NASBA requires CPE program sponsors to match program content and level with the intended participants’ backgrounds. Element K’s NASBA-approved courses were assigned the "Overview" program level. They provide a broad perspective on a subject area, and may be appropriate for professionals at all organization levels.

Element K’s self-study NASBA-approved courses require no prerequisites nor advance preparation.

How are CPE credits determined?
CPE credit for self-study programs, such as Element K’s courses, are based on the results of pilot tests conducted using registered CPA’s to determine average completion time. This information contributes in assigning the CPE value as noted on the Element K NASBA course list.
Typically, one 50-minute period is equal to one CPE credit. Half-credit increments (equal to 25 minutes) are permitted after the first credit has been earned. Time is rounded down to the nearest full or half credit hour.
How do I receive my CPE credits?
1. You must access and fully complete a compliant course title – the title must be contained on the list of courses above.
2. After all course topics have been accessed, you must complete the course assessment with a passing score of 70%.
3. The above steps must be taken within a year of the date the course is first accessed.
Note - State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
Obtaining a Certificate of Completion
After verifying that CPE requirements are met, Element K will issue a certificate that includes certain NASBA-required information. The company also will maintain course and student records for five years. For these reasons, NASBA certificates of completion are not the same as a general Element K certificate of completion.
You must be an Element k customer to receive a certificate. To do so, fax or email the ‘Credential’ certificate available upon completion of the course to the fax number provided in the credential instructions. Within ten working days, Element K will email, fax or mail you a NASBA CPE certified certificate.
