CompTIA Introduces e-Learning Courses for Technology Skills

Oakbrook Terrace, Ill., March 8, 2010 – CompTIA, the leading provider of vendor neutral skills certifications and certificates for the world’s information technology (IT) workforce, today introduced a new series of online learning courses.

CompTIA e-Learning courses, offered in conjunction with leading learning solutions provider Element K, include a variety of online training options for seasoned IT professionals, workers new to the profession, or individuals interested in a career in high-tech. The courses offer self-paced learning tools to develop IT knowledge, technical skills and enhanced performance levels, both as stand-alone programs to prepare for a specific certification or as companion learning resources to support and extend classroom learning.

CompTIA e-Learning online courses provide students with a high degree of interactivity to reinforce basic skills. Courses combine comprehensive conceptual information and interactive procedural training. Lessons and course activities can be repeated as often as needed to ensure skill development.

“With CompTIA e-Learning courses and our certification and certificate programs, individuals can empower themselves with qualifications and credentials to apply for IT jobs, qualify for promotions and build a stronger more viable career,” said Terry Erdle, senior vice president, skills certifications, CompTIA. “Ongoing training and certification are key building blocks to meet the ever expanding and complex job requirements facing today’s IT workers.”

“Element K has a long history of providing effective, high quality training to help professionals achieve their career objectives, including those IT job roles supported by CompTIA certifications,” added Paul Krause, President and CEO of Element K. “ As the leading developer of CompTIA training materials for both classroom and online delivery, we are proud to partner with CompTIA on this important initiative.”

Professional certifications are a critical element in career advancement for IT workers. A 2009 CompTIA survey of more than 1,500 IT workers found that 82 percent of certification holders surveyed assign value to their IT certification, with about half of certification holders reporting a positive firsthand experience in the area of promotions, bonuses or other economic benefits as a result of being certified.

CompTIA eLearning courses are available for CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Server+ , Linux+, Convergence+, Project+, RFID+ , and PDI+ certifications; as well as for the CompTIA Strata certificate program.
